January 29 @ 8:30 am - 2:30 pm

This course is designed to provide Board-approved instruction and certification in the application of Pit & Fissure Sealants for those already licensed as a Registered Dental Assistant or to meet licensure renewal requirements for new RDA’s. Each student must possess the necessary requirements for application for RDA licensure or currently possess an RDA license to take the Pit & Fissure Sealant Course.

This certification course provides all required didactic, lab, and clinical instruction required including oral anatomy review, instrumentation and oral hygiene instruction, identification of materials and proper placement techniques.

If you are a licensed RDA in California, you are required to bring copies of your current, active and signed California RDA license and current CPR* card (front and back).  Licensed RDA’s will receive 16 units of continuing education (CE) upon successful completion of the course.

*Current BLS Certification (Healthcare Provider course only) – Please bring a copy of your certification card with you on the day of the course. This copy is needed before a Certification of Completion can be issued. If you are an unlicensed dental assistant preparing to take the RDA Written Examination, you must bring a copy of your 8-hour Infection Control certificate, 2-hour DPA certificate, Radiation Safety certificate, Coronal Polish certificate, and current BLS card.

Students will not be required to bring patients to the course and training facility; instead student’s will be required to complete patient based sealant competencies in their respective dental practices.  Further information regarding clinical requirements will be addressed in the course.

Course tuition includes materials and training equipment usage needed for completion of the requirements. Participants will be required to bring their own PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for use during the lab and simulated-lab sections of the course.  The recommended PPE is as follows:

  • One (1) disposable isolation gowns or knee-length disposable lab jacket – long sleeved, cuffed, snap front or tie back (no reusable, washable jackets or gowns)

  • Three (3) pair medical examination gloves in appropriate size

  • Two (2) disposable face masks (cone or earloop)

In the event participant does not bring their own PPE, a materials kit will be required to purchase for $5.
