An unlicensed dental assistant is required by the State of California to take an 8-hour course in Infection Control and a 2-hour course in Dental Practice Act within 120 days of employment in a dental office. The Institute’s two courses are board-approved and fully meet the State requirements.
Prerequisites: Current CPR/BLS – Basic Life Support Certification – (Healthcare Provider course only) – Please bring a copy of your certification card with you on the day of the course. This copy is needed before a Certification of Completion can be issued.
The course participant will be completing the didactic instruction and examination portion of the course online prior to completing the laboratory and written examination of the course on our campus. Course participants will receive an email invite to participate in the course via our LMS, Mindflash. Upon completion of the online course, there is a certificate that is generated. The course participant will be responsible for printing the certificate and bringing it to the course. The participant will not be able to attend the course if the LMS requirements are not completed. Upon completion of the LMS, FADE will provide the registrant a time for the 4 hour lab on the scheduled course date.
Course tuition includes materials and training equipment usage needed for completion of the requirements. Participants will be required to bring their own PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for use during the lab and simulated-lab sections of the course. The recommended PPE is as follows:

One (1) reusable isolation gown or one (1) knee-length disposable lab jacket – long sleeved, cuffed, snap front or tie back (no reusable, washable jackets or gowns)

Three (3) pair medical examination gloves in appropriate size

One (1) disposable face masks (cone or earloop)
In the event participant does not bring their own PPE, a materials kit will be required to purchase for $10.
Course instructor will send out a confirmation email to each registered student one week prior to the course start date. Included with this email will be course study guides for the Dental Practice Act (DPA) and Infection Control (IC). Please review the DPA Study Guide prior to attending the course. All other course materials are provided on the first day of class.
